What are the current lifejacket requirements and will they continue to apply from 1 November 2010?
Currently, it is compulsory to wear a lifejacket when crossing a coastal bar; when more than 400m from shore on a canoe, kayak, sailboard (ie windsurfer) or kiteboard; or when operating a personal watercraft at any speed (both the driver and passengers). The requirements relating to canoes, kayaks and kitesurfers will change on 1 November 2010 (see below for details).
