What are the dates of the big Fiesta in September?”
The September Fiesta, which marks the landing of James I and his subsequent conquering of the island from the Moors in September (10th) 1229, is the biggest Fiesta of the year in Santa Ponsa. It is a 10-day long celebration – which entails a lot of eating and drinking. The culmination of the Fiesta is on the Saturday closest to 10th September each year with the parade from the cross at the Marina through the town to the main beach. It normally starts at 5.30 pm and ends with a mock battle between the Moors and Christians on the main beach (the Christians always win!!!). That night – until the early hours, there is normally a rock concert on the main beach. The Fiesta comes to an end with a monumentalk firework display on the main beach on the Sunday. Full details of the 2010 event can be found here.
