What are the differences and similarities between photosynthesis and respiration?
Photosynthesis allows photosynthetic organisms to produce glucose and ATP (and oxygen as a byproduct) from carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight. Respiration allows cells to produce ATP (and water and carbon dioxide as a byproduct) from glucose and oxygen. Essentially, they are opposites when viewed as chemical equations. Both help living things stay alive and carry out biological functions.
