An optometrist is a primary practitioner of eye health care who provides comprehensive eye and vision care, including prescribing and dispensing corrective lenses, detecting, diagnosing and treating eye disease and conditions. Dr. Kaplan is licensed to practice at the highest level for optometrists, including the ability to treat glaucoma and eye infections.An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor (MD) who specializes in all aspects of eye care including diagnosis, management and surgery of ocular diseases and disorders. An optician is trained in the fabrication and fitting of glasses as prescribed by an optometrist or opthalmologist.  more
