What are the differences between types of ceramic tableware?
Ceramic derives from the Greek work “keramos” meaning pottery. It is a generic term for products made of fired clay. Ceramic tableware can be divided into four main groups: bone china, porcelain, earthenware and stoneware. Each type has a difference composition of clay materials and other different benefits. ^ top What is Bone China? Bone china is regarded as the highest quality, strongest ceramic tableware and generally the most expensive. It is composed of 25 per cent china clay (a pure white clay known as kaolin) 25 per cent china stone (white granite stone made of quartz, feldspar and mica) and 50 per cent bone ash (primarily battle bone which is burnt and then ground to a fine powder).
