What are the differences in the results obtained performing ping and traceroute using Looking Glass vs. performing the commands directly from the router on my premise?
The results will be almost the same. When you run a ping or traceroute using Looking Glass, the access router is the first “hop” shown in a trace route. When you run a traceroute from the router on your premise, your router will be the first “hop” and the access router will be the second “hop.” Thus a traceroute run from your CPE router will show one more “hop” in it than the one run from the Looking Glass.
