There are many different breeds of guinea pigs, some are being bred today. The standard ones are Peruvian- Long-haired with fur that grows over face American (or English)- Most common, short-haired Abyssinian- Rosettes (Hair grows is little tufts) Coronet- Long-haired with a crest on forehead Silkie (Sheltie)- Longish fur that grows in soft sweeps, grows backwards from face Texel- Most different guinea pig from all the other, has a different body shape (more compact and cobbly) with long curls all over White Crested- Short-haired, white crest on head Teddy- Unique guinea pig because of hair that is kinked and stands erect over their whole body There are two kind of hairless guinea pigs.
