What Are the Different Kinds of Sore Throat Remedies?
Most people become inflicted with a sore throat from time to time. Medically, a sore throat is known as pharyngitis. Sore throats can be very painful. The throat may feel inflamed or swollen and very dry, so much so that it may become difficult to talk and swallow. Due to the discomfort this condition can bring, sore throat remedies are usually attempted at the first warning signs that the throat is about to get sore. Usually, a sore throat is caused by a viral infection such as influenza or a cold. Other viral infections such as the mumps, mononucleosis and laryngitis can cause the condition as well. Pollen, pet dander, mold and other allergens can also cause the throat to get sore. In some cases, a bacterial infection may be to blame. Some common types of bacterial infections that may lead to a sore throat include tonsillitis and strep throat.
