What are the different parts of a dagger called?
Different daggers, knives and swords throughout history have had a multitude of names of the parts that make them up. To break it down to the minimum, there are four parts: the blade, guard, handle (or grip), and pommel. The blade is the most obvious part – that being the cutting or thrusting part of a dagger. The guard is directly under the blade and above the handle/or grip. The handle/grip is where you hold the item, and the pommel is the bottom extension below the grip. Each and every one of these parts can vary in shape, size, material, and style but most are always present in some way.
