What are the different theories for Earths formation?
Scientific theories or Earth’s formation is tied up in solar system formation and that is just one so far as I recall. The nebular model says the whole solar system originated from a disk of matter which was shocked by a supernova which triggered the accretion process. This includes a subsequent outburst of of a mega-solar wind force from the proto-sun that sorted the heavy elements and molecules from the lighter ones by sweeping away the lighter ones into distant orbits where they coalesced into the gas planets and beyond that the icy comets. The 4 present (possibly 6-8 originally) rocky bodies (aka Terrestrial planets ) coalesced from heavier silicate material which remained in closer solar orbit. One, representing the material in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter did not accrete owing to Jupiter’s gravitational peturbance.
