What are the different types of toe shapes available in boots?
There are as many different names for the various types of toe shapes as there is for the boot vendors which name them. However, these are the most commonly known in the industry. 1) U-Toe, The preferred toe type in West Texas. A U shaped toe, very round and broad in appearance; 2) R-Toe, The most commonly offered and chosen in western boots with medium round toe; 3) J-Toe, Sharper toe in appearance versus the R-toe with a rounded tip; 4) X-Toe, A very sharp pointed toe often referred to as the roach killers; 5) Roper Toe, This toe is a little rounder in appearance than that of the R-toe, but is the toe on all Roper style boots. 6) Chip Toe, the toe often chosen by the true working cowboy. A very blunt and squared off toe.
