WHAT ARE THE HURRICANE RITA SURGE INUNDATION AND ADVISORY BASE FLOOD ELEVATION MAPS?

0

The Hurricane Rita Surge Inundation and Advisory Base Flood Elevation Maps (also referred to as “Rita Recovery Maps”) are a series of aerial photographs that show several kinds of coastal flood-related data for areas along the Louisiana coastline. They were developed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in cooperation with other Federal and state agencies. To make the maps, FEMA used pre-existing data combined with information obtained immediately after Hurricane Rita. The new information includes high water marks left behind by Hurricane Rita, an estimate of Hurricane Rita’s coastal flood limits, and advisory 1%-annual-chance (100-year) flood elevations (ABFEs) that can be used during reconstruction.
