There is not technically any tiger called a ‘snow tiger’. The name could only really be applied to the Siberian tiger, the only subspecies which lives in snowy conditions. However, this subspecies is never white. White tigers are individuals of the Bengal subspecies with a genetic condition called leucism, which causes reduced pigmentation. They are NOT a separate species or subspecies to normally coloured tigers. The Bengal subspecies is the only one in which lecusim is known to occur.
