What are the Magic the Gathering deck types?

Well, the three main deck archetypes are Aggro, Control and Combo. Aggro is essentially where you try and beat the opponent as quickly as you can. Generally these a creature-based, although burn and other methods do exist. Control basically tries to slow or stop the opponent to the point where they can beat the opponent down with some kind of finisher. The majority of these decks include counterspells, although pinpoint removal has been used successfully instead of them in The Rock-type decks as a control. The finisher is usually one big buzzkill creature or condition like Akroma, Angel of Wrath or Glimpse the Unthinkable (with other mill cards). Combo is probably the most hated archetype. Combo is where the deck sets up a situation where it is either impossible to lose or where you automatically win. Usually the deck disguises itself as Control (although I’ve had some success with combo decks pretending to be Aggro) until it rips the combo and wins.
