What are the main tasks of the “article 6 Committee”?
Firstly, the “Article 6 Committee” is in charge of assisting the European Commission in the establishment of technical specifications that are necessary for the implementation of Regulation 1683/95 and of giving an opinion on the draft Commission decisions on these issues. Secondly, based on the Article 6 Committee wide experience and expertise in document security, the Council of the European Union also gave it the mandate to establish other technical specifications, such as the specifications for residence permits of third country nationals and passports and the other travel documents issued by Member States.
