What are the major cities in Guatemala?
Guatemala City is the capitol, it’s large there isn’t much too see other than zone 1 where there are a lot of historical buildings, the National Palace, Park, Central Market. Zone 10 is “La Zona VIva” where the majority of the night life takes place and it is considered upscale. Xelaju is considered the second city in Guatemala since its the largest after Guatemala city, it’s a colder climate being that it is located in the mountains, there are a lot more natives (Guatemalan Indians) living here that in the capitol. It is considered to be wealthier. Antigua is not a city but a tourist destination, It was the first capitol Guatemala had. The houses there are the oldest in Guatemala, and are not allowed to be altered(Country law) it has a very Social Night Life. It’s young and hip and safer that the capitol. Peten – Is the home of Tikal where the Mayan ruins are, this is perhaps what the country is best known for.
