What are the most common causes for premature failure in gear reducers?
Common causes for premature failure of a reducer include: improper selection for the application; changing the motor horsepower or speed; incorrect alignment of couplings; improper lubrication; lack of regular maintenance; related (attached) equipment problems; and not using “genuine” Hamilton Gear replacement parts. In almost all cases of premature failure, it is determined that one or a combination of these problems has contributed to the failure.
