The University of Wisconsin-Madison's College of Engineering offers a complete metal working education through their Materials Science and Engineering program. This renovated undergraduate program was formerly a metallurgical engineering bachelor's degree, one of the most prevalent degrees among Metal Working schools, but was renovated to meet the current standards of materials manufacturing and design. Students are taught not only the tools and skills of their craft, but also a background of microstructures, processing and how materials perform. An engineering design component and a practical capstone course are also required for graduation, which can be achieved in four years. Graduate Metal Working school programs are also available.  more
