Malnourishment is one potential negative effect. Meat, including seafood, contain nutrients in some cases that are much more concentrated than the next best vegetable or dairy source. Zinc (oysters), Vitamin B6 (liver), and Iron (beef), are just a few examples. These nutrients are present in many plant and/or dairy sources, but in some cases you would need to eat pounds of them to get the same quantity found in only a small amount of meat. Other effects reported by many, myself included, include lethargy, loss of strength and/or stamina, constipation (severe in my case), diarrhea, and fatigue/lassitude. In my experience, these symptoms were much more severe when I tried veganism. Ironically (or not), I also experienced similar side effects on a high fat/protein diet which contained lots of animal products. Many of the aforementioned are common symptoms of deficiencies.
