What are the NEPA Chiefs all about?
I founded the NEPA Chiefs fan club in 1999. We had a good group of about 30 guys at first and we have the nepachiefs.com web site. When we started to go on the trips and meet a lot of the players, coaches, and owners, a lot of our guys … they just wanted to watch the Chiefs on TV like the locals do. We were rubbing elbows with the athletes and now the players and coaches no me by name. Some of the guys developed an envy, so now we’re down to maybe six guys right now who are serious about watching the games. So how did the NFL Films feature happen? Joey Saunders is a friend of mine and he’s the offensive coordinator’s son — that’s Al Saunders. Now Joey is a junior writer for NFL Films and the guys down at Big Charlie’s bar in Philly are friends with him. I met them through a paper and now we travel down to Philly at least for half of the games and see the Chiefs play at Big Charlie’s Saloon. Big Charlie’s is a shrine to the Kansas City Chiefs and it’s in the heart of Eagle territory.
