What are the offences that created the Vehicles (Crime) Act 2001?
The Vehicles (Crime) Act 2001 creates 5 new offences: • Requirement to register Section 1 (1) Any person carrying on a business as a motor salvage operator as defined in Section 1 (2) of the Act and who fails to register with their local authority will be guilty of an offence and will be liable, on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding Level 5 on the standard scale (currently 5,000) • Keeping of records Section 7 (4) Failure to keep the records specified in the Regulations to the Act will be an offence and liable, on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding Level 4 on the standard scale (currently 2,500) • Making false statements Section 10 Any applicant for registration or renewal of registration who knowingly or recklessly makes a false statement or provides false information on their application form will be guilty of this offence and liable, on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding Level 3 on the standard scale (currently 1,000) Any person guilty of this offence who
