What are the Parent Participant responsibilities?

0

Parents are required to work in every class their students are enrolled in each semester. As a Parent Participant, parents assist instructors/tutors by helping to grade papers, by logging scores into their grade books, by taking attendance, and by distributing handouts. Most importantly, being a participant in the classroom provides the parent with first-hand information on classroom instruction and activities, while allowing them to observe student behavior, participation, and the expectations of the instructor. Parents are required to work a maximum of two times a semester in a junior high class, and a maximum of three times a semester in a high school class. A $25.00 fee per class period will be charged when a parent fails to help at their scheduled time. Parent Participant dates are scheduled at the beginning of each semester and are available on the Star Academics website beginning the second or third week of the semester.
