What are the penalties for not transferring my license plate (tag) in the timeframe required?
Georgia license plates (tags) remain with the vehicle’s owner(s) and not the vehicle. You will be subject to fines of up to $100.00 (if stopped by law enforcement) if you fail to transfer your tag between vehicles or you fail to register and purchase a new tag within thirty-days (30) of the vehicle’s purchase or acquisition date.
