Answer-The basic principle of ayurveda related pharmacology states that the medicines performs on the basis of rasa, guna, veerya, vipaak, and prabhava. These are basic properties of the herbs and they act on this basis. Commonly we can term as potency of the particular drug. The pharmacological action of ayurvedic herbs cannot be tested as per the modern techniques because the way of the action of the herbs on the human physiology is not discovered but the effects of the herbs are seen. Now days some herbs and their route of pharmacological action is been proved by modern medicines but there is a long way to go. The side effects of ayurvedic medicines are definitely there but they are mild in nature because they are containing natural chemicals. That’s why the side effects are not acute in nature.  more
