What are the problems facing rural Ireland today?

It’s not such an issue now with the recession as building has pretty much stopped, but over building of estates and apartments and land that was used for farming etc an many are left empty for looters and squatters to get into, or building houses without building any amenities is another problem..they do that in built up areas though, in Clondalkin or Lucan you have to walk a good bit before you get to a shop. Also with new housing comes a new crowd. Where i live was relatively quiet about 10 years ago, but it’s very rough nowadays and now has a reputation for being so, you can’t walk down the town but their are little shits causing trouble and then there’s the influx of drug dealing. Local pubs in rural areas wouldn’t do fantastic business anyway, but any pubs that are not situated in a town but instead along the road have suffered with the drink driving laws and many have closed unless they offer decent food. Another issue is public transport, bus eireann is expensive and more often
