What are the programmes or plans of the National Youth Council of Nigeria for Nigerian youths?
Nowadays, politicians are using too many Nigerian youths as canon fodders; the sycophancy industry being developed for the 2011 election campaigns has sucked in many youth groups. The National Youth Council of Nigeria is the umbrella body for youth organisations across Nigeria. We were only elected few weeks ago and one of our cardinal aims is to create opportunities for young people in Nigeria in the area of entrepreneurship development because we discovered that unemployment is becoming an issue in this country and our young people need to be engaged so that we can have less of violence and crimes and other vices. Another aspect that we are so much interested in is sensitising young people on governance issues. In addition to giving youths a focus or direction, this platform could help them execute skills in decision-making rather than being mere passive followers.
