What are the projected “significant and unavoidable” impacts of the PAMF San Carlos Center identified in the EIR?
The EIR found only a few “significant and unavoidable” impacts attributable to the PAMF San Carlos Center. In addition to some additional freeway traffic during rush hour on three segments of Highway 101, the EIR identified associated air quality impacts caused by cars traveling to and from the site and construction vibration associated with pile driving as “significant and unavoidable impacts.” Like freeway traffic, air quality is a regional issue, but PAMF will do its part to reduce vehicle trips to and from the site – the most effective way to reduce traffic and air emissions according to the consulting firm that drafted the EIR. Implementation of PAMF’s proposed traffic reduction measures is projected to decrease traffic to and from the San Carlos Center and reduce vehicle air emissions. The project will incorporate proposed construction pile driving vibration strategies to reduce those potential effects.
