What are the pros and cons of formula feeding a baby instead of breastfeeding?
I wouldn’t spend too much time worrying about what you can’t change. Of course ‘breast is best’, nobody can deny that, but that doesn’t mean it’s a difference between life or death. If you look at a list of reasons why you should breastfeed, the majority of them are actually of benefit to one/both of the parents rather than the baby, the only two real advantages to the baby of being breast fed are having a better immune system to begin with and less chance of allergies. I know those are important, but it’s not the be all and end all. The odd bug never killed anyone – and if people are that concerned about that aspect then I can only assume they’re SAHPs too considering how rife with bugs daycares are and if they believe children need complete shelter from that. As for allergies – most still DON’T get them, it’s just an added protection. I’m by no means anti breastfeeding, I think it’s a wonderful thing to do for your child, but I also recognize that it isn’t the end of the world if it
