A psychologist is a specialist in the field of the psyche and behavior of people. This can be a military psychologist, a teacher-psychologist, an engineering psychologist (they came up with an eight-hour working day, say hello), a social psychologist, a sports psychologist and many others, including the same psychologist to whom they come to talk about what is painful.
A psychologist is a licensed health care professional that is registered (in Ontario) by the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Generally, a psychologist will earn a bachelors degree, a Masters degree in Psychology, and then a PhD in Psychology. The main techniques employed by psychologists include counseling and psychotherapy. In Ontario, only licensed psychologists with a doctoral degree can legally diagnose patients with disorders, whereas therapists cannot.
