What are the ramifications of joint tenancy and tenancy by the entirety?
A tenancy by the entirety and a joint tenancy are formed in similar manner (except that a tenancy by the entirety requires the owners to be married), and they give identical rights upon death. That is, when one party dies the property goes to the other party. The difference is that a tenancy by the entirety cannot be conveyed by one party. If you have a joint tenancy one party can convey their interest, which will destroy the joint tenancy and create a tenancy in common. A tenancy by the entirety requires that all parties (i.e. husband and wife) agree to convey.
tenancy by entirety is only for married people, it means there is no right to survivorship, if one dies the other gets the whole property and one cant do anything without permission from the other, joint tenancy has survivorship meaning if your joint tenant dies his heirs gets his share of the property or he can sell his interest of the property without your permission
