With a merchant account comes various fees, some may only be periodically charged, while others are charged as per item or maybe a percentage. The account provider are responsible for setting some of these fees, but more of them are percentage or per item fees that are passed along through the service provider onto the bank that issued the credit card as per the rate schedule named interchange fees, that are basically determined by MasterCard and Visa.
