Any person who operates a motor vehicle with passengers age five and under, shall secure said passengers with a child passenger restraint system which meets federal requirements. All children age six through 15 years being transported in such vehicle must use a passenger restraint system.

On July 1, 2010 a change in the child restraint law took place. The new law requires… • A child under 1 year old and weighing less than 20 lbs must be secured in a rear-facing child restraint system • A child under 6 years old must be secured in a child restraint system (a safety seat or booster seat—NOT a seat belt) • All perosns under age 18 to wear a seat belt, safety harness or safety restraint system while driving or riding in a motor vehicle. This applies to both front and back seating.
