What are the side effects of chronic (prolonged) use of Crystal Meth?
The chronic effects are linked to the initial effects of the drug. Loss of appetite results in weight loss. Poor hygiene and dry mouth contribute to tooth and gum decay. People eventually develop a tolerance for the drug and need to do more to feel high-otherwise they feel depressed, sometimes even suicidal. With prolonged use, people also begin to feel dependent on the drug; in this case they are “psychologically” addicted to the drug. Other effects include damage to your lungs (if meth is smoked), your veins (if injected), kidney heart and brain.
