What are the signs of jealousy in the workplace?

Sounds like it might be resentment, rather than jealousy. If she’s worked there longer than you, she may resent that you’re moving ahead in the company before she is. And especially if you’re younger and/or better looking, she may see it as unfair and undeserved. If you have more qualifications she may be bitter about that and not want to acknowledge it. People who get along well with management are often disliked–especially by employees who have a history of being lied to or manipulated by the managers. Managers generally love employees who say yes to them all the time, regardless of how shabbily they treat their employees. And once they find employees who always say yes, they start getting rid of the employees who have stuck up for themselves and said no to unreasonable demands.

You could be correct and there are lots of reasons for being jealous, perhaps she resents your youth. You already know the signs if her behaviour towards you is concerning you. Try and rise above it and get on with your work. Be polite and pleasant to her but not OTT, just as if you are oblivious to what she is doing. Don’t be a know all even if it happens you know more than her. Learn the difference between assisting her if she needs it and making her feel she is stupid. If you are a nice person, good worker etc you will win her over in the end.
