Signs of experiencing emotional distress can look very different in children than they do in adults. Children do not have the capability to always verbally explain how they feel or the coping mechanisms to know how to self-soothe. Mood or behavioral symptoms can appear mild or severe outwardly and can be expressed behaviorally in different ways.
