What are the similarities between an Art Curator, Art Critic & an Art Historian?
A curator assembles works of art for display at a museum or gallery. This person needs to know the history of art in order to understand the importance of the works being selected and the context in which they were created. In this way the curator resembles an art historian. A curator also needs to know the quality of the works, and an art critic makes judgments on the quality, so that’s another similarity. Ideally a critic would also know art history so s/he could assess the works in their context.
