The similarities is that both wars were started based on lies told to the American people. The wars were tied falsely to our national security, but were about securing money for corporate power. In Vietnam, we actually fought to keep Vietnam from gaining independence. It’s a sordid and disgusting story and Johnson actually faked an attack (Gulf of Tonkin) on American military to get the war on. In Iraq, Bush lied about WMD, even tho he knew full well the inspectors had found none, and then he used verbal sleight of hand over and over to tie Saddam to 9/11 (there is no connection) to rile Americans up into supporting his illegal, monstrous war. In addition, our soldiers have committed many war crimes in both wars. In Abu Graihb in Iraq, we even tortured to death dozens of people our own military admits were guilty of no crimes. These are wars to procure the resources of brown people for rich white men who pretend they believe in free enterprise and competition and lawfulness, but really
