What are the similarities/differences between observation and inference?
An observation is something you see or measure. An inference is something you guess based on what you see. You can walk outside and see it is raining. This is an observation. You can remain indoors and see a wet umbrella beside the door and here the pitter-patter on the roof. From this you can make an educated guess it is raining. This is an inference.
