What are the symptoms/conditions of Lyme disease?
Early Lyme disease is usually marked by one or more of the following intermittent and changing symptoms and signs: fatigue, chills and fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, swollen lymph nodes, and a characteristic skin rash (erythema migrans). Erythema migrans begins as a solid reddish circle, which enlarges and clears in the center, resembling a bull’s eye. It appears from 3 days to 3 weeks after the bite of the infected tick and is recognized in 60% to 80%of patients with Lyme Disease. Late symptoms may occur weeks, months, or even years after the tick bite and may include: arthritis, nervous system abnormalities, and cardiac arrhythmias. How do you get Lyme Disease by way of the deer tick? The deer tick (Ixodes scapularis) has a two year life-cycle. The eggs hatch in the spring and the larval stage feeds on an infected white-footed mouse (Peromyscus leucopus). The infected larvae molt the next spring into the nymphal stage, which can infect people. The infected nymphs molt during
