What are the Symptoms for Poison ivy?
The symptom for poison ivy starts with itching/ burning sensation. Then a rash in red color and with intense itching occurs. Swelling, oozing and blistering takes place on the affected areas. Small and few blisters are involved in mild cases; severe cases have large blisters in higher quantities, fever, acute inflammation and inflammation of genitals/ face. Symptoms may appear in a few hours/ few days. The rash is linear. Normally the areas affected are hands, face and arms. Scratching spreads the inflammation and this affects other areas of the body. Home remedies for poison ivy • Apply gel of Aloe vera on the affected area. • Wash the affected area immediately with soap and water. • Make a tea with white oak bark and lime water in equal quantities; use this solution and apply a wet compress. • Witch hazel is helpful in stopping itching. • Use melaleuca oil and disinfect. • Apply a paste of cornstarch, oatmeal, baking soda and Epsom salts and water on the area affected.
