The TOEFL is the Test of English as a Foreign Language. IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. Candidates for whom English is not their primary spoken language are required to take the TOEFL or IELTS. Students choosing to submit TOEFL results must achieve a minimum score of 213 (computer-based) or 550 (written) or 79 (Internet based). Students choosing to submit IELTS results must achieve a minimum score of 6.5. This test requirement may be waived on an individual basis for applicants who have attended all four years of high school in the United States (exclusive of ESL courses) or have an earned degree (bachelor or higher) from a U.S. college or university.
