Sun King is correct. In terms of the animals that actually cause the most human deaths and injuries in Canada every year, the number one most dangerous animal is the dog. This is not to say that every dog is dangerous, but humans have so many more contacts with dogs every day than most other animals that even if only 1 out of every million dog encounters results in injury, it’s still a higher number than any cougar or bear encounters. Most dog related injuries, and almost all fatalities occur to children under twelve. In Canada, the next highest is actually the white-tailed deer – almost entirely due to vehicle accidents. Then it is cattle. Again, this is due to exposure numbers. Then it’s moose. A higher proportion of vehicle accidents involving moose result in fatalities than deer incidents. This is because moose are both larger, and have much longer legs than deer – so vehicle incidents involving them have a higher likelihood of the moose going through the windshield. Next is horses
