What Are the Treatments for Morbid Obesity?
If you are more than 100 pounds overweight or have a body mass index (BMI) greater than 40, then you are morbidly obese, according to MedlinePlus, a joint initiative of the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health. MedlinePlus warns that the health consequences of morbid obesity can be very serious. Extreme obesity, if left untreated, can contribute to a wide variety of diseases, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, colon and breast cancer, depression and high blood pressure.
