What are the Types of Foster Homes?
There are four types of foster home cerifications available through the Mesa County Department of Human Services (MCDHS). They are as follows: • Family Foster Care Home: A family foster care home is defined as a home that provides care and training for a foster child or children not related to the caretaker for regular 24-hour care. If space permits, this type of foster home may care for up to four foster children. • Receiving Foster Care Home: A receiving foster care home is defined as a home that provides care and training for a foster child or children not related to the caretaker for regular 24-hour care. However, in this type of foster home, no foster child shall remain in the family foster home for longer than 90 consecutive days. This home provides temporary emergency care for foster children.
