Flexion of the upper limb is bending at the elbow towards you and extension is straightening it out out again. Similarly with the lower limb i.e. flexion bending knee joint, extension straightening. Not sure about the ‘synergy’ bit tho. The prefix syn- means together if that’s any help! And synergy in general terms means cohesion i think.
