What are trawlers/otter trawlers/beam trawlers?
Trawl vessels pull conical nets through the water, either along the ocean floor or at various points through the water column, catching fish as the boats move slowly through the water. Beam trawlers have a horizontal wooden or metal beam that helps hold the net open; otter trawls have special boards on either side of the net for the same purpose.
