Vertical blinds are a type of window covering that provides both privacy and controlled lighting. As opposed to the cord-supported horizontal slats of standard mini-blinds, vertical blinds have veins hanging down vertically from the head rail that houses the mechanical components. There are many advantages to vertical blinds, and they make an excellent window covering for large-opening windows. One advantage to vertical blinds is that they can be custom ordered to fit nearly any width window. Standard mini-blinds typically have a maximum width at which they will be sufficient. When custom ordering vertical blinds, you have numerous choices in both design and style. Vertical blinds come in both vinyl and fabric. You can also choose various textures and colors according to the design plan of your room or home. Most vertical blinds are a neutral solid color on the side that faces the street, so that even if you have different colored blinds in each room, your home has a uniform look ...  more

Vertical blinds are manufactured in a variety of colours, patterns, and washable fabrics for use in Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, patio doors or French windows. The blind louvers hang freely from their track mechanism and hence they can be manufactured using fabrics, screens or rigid PVC. Traditional louvers are interconnected by a clip and chain which in turn is connected to the keyhole punch in the vane. Modern vertical blinds have dispensed with these interconnections. Since the louvers of vertical blinds hang loosely from the track mechanism, they sway and bang against each other and could cause undesirable noise especially in the case of PVC louvers. Fabric louvers are less noisome and would be an excellent choice for bedrooms and boardrooms where noise can be distracting. Additionally, fabric blinds come in a variety of shades and patterns that can be used creatively to enhance the beauty of the room and match with the general dcor. If high quality fabrics are used, the ...  more

Vertical blinds are constructed of vertical vanes and a headrail, which keeps vanes together and allows moving and rotating them. You can choose from three draw-control options for vertical vanes: they can be moved to the left, right, or from the center of the window. They usually come with a matching color valance.

A headrail system is an important part of vertical blinds. It should be heavy duty to effectively function for many years without trouble. So check it carefully when shopping for your verticals. Look for a headrail that is made of anodized aluminum, steel, or other sturdy metal. Some manufacturers make soft-lubricant headrails for easier operation. Also find out what warranty you will get for your blinds, especially for the headrail system.

Many people choose to use blinds as a simple, unobtrusive way of covering their windows. In many cases, people choose to use vertical blinds to cover windows and large patio doors. Vertical blinds are just as their name implies: they hang vertically, and the slats are attached to a top rod and hang downwards. They are often used to cover larger windows or patio doors because their slats are wider, and can overlap each other more easily than traditional window blinds.  more
