What awards have the English graduate faculty won lately?

Karen Schneider won the University Teaching Award for 1999-2000. Deborah Logan won the Potter College Research Award for 2000-2001 and again in 2005-2006. Elizabeth Oakes won the 2004 Pearl Poetry Prize from Pearl Editions in Long Beach, CA. Elizabeth Oakes and Jane Olmsted won the 2003 Sallie Bingham Feminist Action Award and the 2003-2004 Potter College Service Award for the Kentucky Feminist Writers Series. Is the graduate faculty active in publishing? In the past five years, members of the department have published nearly 200 critical articles, poems, and essays, as well as 26 books and/or films. During the same period, they presented more than 230 professional papers and readings in a number of regional, national, and international venues. How “cutting edge” is Western’s graduate program in English? We were among the first universities in the nation to hire a specialist in contemporary theory. We were also among the first to cross-list English classes with women’s studies courses.
