What benefits does a web cache cluster bring?
Clustering web cache instances provides a larger pool of memory in which to store the cached page objects. Browsers however still need an IP address (whether mapped by DNS or directly entered into the address bar by the end users) to route the HTTP requests to. A Web Cache cluster is a way of sharing the cached objects (ex. web pages) across multiple Web Cache instances; it does not provide a way to share the IP addresses. There is some improvement on availability (since each instance now has to go to the backend application server fewer times).
