What Birth Control Method Is Dangerous to Women Who Smoke?
There are a wide variety of different birth control methods, including barrier methods, hormonal methods and intrauterine methods. While each of these types of methods is relatively effective at preventing pregnancy, certain forms of birth control can be dangerous to women who smoke. Typically, all hormonal forms of birth control contain risks, and side effects that are greatly exacerbated by smoking. The risks of smoking while on birth control increase with the dose of hormones, the amount of cigarettes smoked, and the user’s age.
